    Quick verdict

OmniWatch is a real identity theft and scam protection service, and on paper it is one of the cheapest ways to get big insurance limits. Its Elite plan costs $179.88 a year and includes 3-bureau credit monitoring, up to $4 million in identity theft insurance (underwritten by Lloyd’s), a VPN, antivirus and AI scam detection for your inbox.

The part most reviews leave out: OmniWatch is owned by PeopleConnect, the company behind the people-search sites TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate and Intelius. OmniWatch’s own website code names PeopleConnect as its parent, and its apps are published by Pubrec, LLC, which was one of the companies in a 2023 FTC case that ended in a $5.8 million penalty. OmniWatch also does not remove your information from data brokers, which rivals like Aura and LifeLock do.

Our take: if you mainly want cheap credit monitoring, insurance and scam alerts, OmniWatch is a reasonable value. If privacy is the reason you’re shopping, and you want your info off people-search sites, pick a service that removes it instead.

    Who owns OmniWatch?

We found four separate pieces of evidence that OmniWatch is a PeopleConnect brand:

    • OmniWatch’s homepage contains structured data listing its legal name as “OmniWatch LLC” and its parentOrganization as “PeopleConnect”.
    • Its iPhone and Android apps are published by Pubrec, LLC, and the Android app’s ID is “us.peopleconnect.omniwatchapp”.
    • PeopleConnect’s own website lists OmniWatch next to Classmates, Intelius, TruthFinder, US Search and Instant Checkmate.
    • In its replies to BBB complaints, OmniWatch wrote: “OmniWatch is a PeopleConnect product” and “OmniWatch and TruthFinder are products of PeopleConnect.”

Why it matters: PeopleConnect’s people-search sites publish the kind of personal information identity thieves use. In FTC v. TruthFinder, LLC et al. (Southern District of California, case 3:23-cv-01674), the FTC alleged that TruthFinder and Instant Checkmate deceived people about whether others had criminal records and broke the Fair Credit Reporting Act. A stipulated order was entered on October 11, 2023, with a $5.8 million civil penalty. Pubrec, LLC was a named defendant; the FTC’s case page does not describe Pubrec’s specific role. None of this was about OmniWatch itself, but it is the same corporate family.

    How much does OmniWatch cost?

    PlanMonthlyYearlyKey differences
Standard (1 adult)$11.99$95.88TransUnion-only credit monitoring, up to $2M insurance
Elite (1 adult)$21.99$179.883-bureau monitoring, up to $4M insurance, home title and payday loan alerts
Family (2 adults)$29.99$239.88Elite for 2 adults, up to $8M total insurance

Prices are from OmniWatch’s pricing page on October 31, 2026, plus tax. Plans renew automatically at the same price, according to its terms. Buying in the iPhone app costs more (for example, $200 a year for Elite). There is no free trial on the public site, although its pricing code includes $1 and free-trial offers shown only to some partner traffic.

    What you get

    • All plans: AI scam detection (including automatic inbox scanning for Gmail and Outlook if you grant access), dark web monitoring, data breach alerts, SSN, name and address monitoring, daily credit score, TransUnion credit lock, 24/7 identity restoration help, a VPN for 2 devices and antivirus.
    • Elite adds: 3-bureau credit monitoring and quarterly 3-bureau reports, payday loan and home title monitoring, malware blocking and antivirus on 3 devices.
    • Family: Elite for 2 adults plus household insurance. AllAboutCookies notes there is no option to add children.
    • Insurance: up to $2M (Standard), $4M (Elite) or $8M total (Family) in identity theft expense reimbursement, underwritten by certain Underwriters at Lloyd’s. Coverage generally applies only to incidents after your plan is active.
    • Scam and ransomware reimbursement: OmniWatch’s pricing page says up to $50,000, $100,000 and $200,000 by plan, but its FAQ table shows $25,000 to $100,000 each for scam and ransomware. Ask before you rely on a number.

What’s missing: there is no data broker or people-search removal. OmniWatch’s “Digital Footprint” is a report built from public records it collects itself. AllAboutCookies, which gives OmniWatch 4.5 out of 5, still says “OmniWatch’s identity monitoring is thinner than most,” with no bank account activity, social media or USPS address-change monitoring.

    Privacy: what you hand over

To activate monitoring and insurance you give OmniWatch your date of birth and Social Security number. Inbox scanning means granting access to “all emails in the email account that you have designated.”

Its privacy policy (revised October 1, 2026) says it may share data with “our affiliated companies, including our sibling, parent and related entities,” and with “advertisers and other third parties who may use it for advertising purposes.” In its California privacy table, identifiers are listed as “Sold And/or Shared” with referral affiliates, advertising partners (online identifiers only) and analytics providers. It says it does not sell sensitive data such as your SSN or email contents. For a privacy product owned by a people-search company, read this before you sign up.

    What customers say

    • Trustpilot: 4.3 from 1,166 reviews (66% five-star, 6% one-star). OmniWatch invites reviews and pays for a Trustpilot subscription, which tends to lift scores. Negative reviews say there is little value beyond breach alerts.
    • BBB: accredited since December 2023, B rating, 8 complaints in 3 years, all answered. Several say they were charged after clicking OmniWatch inside TruthFinder or Instant Checkmate, or after a $9.99 dark web scan, and refunds were often partial, “as a courtesy.”
    • Apps: 4.3 on iPhone (74 ratings) and 4.3 on Google Play (209 reviews).
    • Awards: OmniWatch advertises a “2025 Gold Stevie Award, Company of the Year.” The actual category is “Company of the Year (Medium) – Computer Services” in the American Business Awards, a program that charges an entry fee per category. It is not a product test.

    Refunds and cancelling

You can cancel any time in My Account, by live chat or by calling (877) 892-8249 (Monday to Friday, 7am to 4pm Pacific). There is no cancellation fee. For a full refund you have to call within 14 days of buying a monthly plan or 30 days for an annual plan. After that, annual plans get no prorated refund. App store purchases are refunded through Apple or Google. The terms also include mandatory arbitration and a class-action waiver, and warn that chargebacks may be treated as possible fraud.

OmniWatch vs Aura, LifeLock and Identity Guard

    Incogni Protect$248.881 (TransUnion)Yes, 420+ brokers30 days

OmniWatch’s edge is insurance per dollar: $4M on Elite versus $1M on Aura Individual. Aura and LifeLock cost about the same or less, remove you from data brokers, and give you twice as long to get your money back. AllAboutCookies’ own comparison concludes “Aura delivers a more well-rounded protection suite.”

    Who should buy OmniWatch

    • Good fit: you want the most insurance and 3-bureau monitoring for the lowest price, and you like having a VPN and antivirus in the same bill.
    • Skip it if: you want your info removed from people-search sites, or you’d rather not give your SSN to a company in the same family as TruthFinder and Intelius. Look at Aura or LifeLock instead, or a removal service like Incogni.
