invisaWear Review (2026): Is This Safety Jewelry Legit?

How we reviewed this: this is a research-based review. We did not buy or test the product ourselves. Quick verdict

Yes, invisaWear is a legit product from a real company. It was started by two UMass Lowell engineering graduates, and since 2020 its alerts have been handled by ADT’s monitoring agents. But it is not a stand-alone panic button. It only works when your phone is on and close by, and only while you pay for the $14.99 per month Safety Plan. If you are fine with both of those, it is a discreet way to call for help. If you want something that works on its own, look at the alternatives below.

    Pros

    • ✓ Looks like normal jewelry or a bag charm, so nobody knows it is a safety device
    • ✓ Alerts are handled by ADT agents, who call you first and can contact 9-1-1 (U.S. and Canada)
    • ✓ Up to 5 contacts get your live location
    • ✓ Long battery life claimed (no charging), plus a test mode in the app
    • ✓ 30-day returns, 1-year warranty on the jewelry

    Cons

    • ✗ Does nothing without the paired phone: on, within about 30 feet, with the app running
    • ✗ Needs the $14.99/month Safety Plan; without it the company says it is “simply a beautiful piece of jewelry”
    • ✗ Subscriptions are non-refundable and start on the purchase date
    • ✗ $10 restocking fee per returned item, and you pay return shipping
    • ✗ Mixed independent ratings: 2.7 out of 5 on Trustpilot

    What is invisaWear?

invisaWear makes jewelry and accessories with a hidden button inside: a charm necklace, bracelets and a pendant keychain. The gold versions are brass plated with 14k gold and the silver versions are brass plated with rhodium, and the company says they are nickel-free. Double-press the hidden button and the invisaWear app on your phone starts an emergency alert.

    How it works

    1. You double-press the hidden button on the charm.
    2. The charm signals your phone over Bluetooth, and the invisaWear app sends the alert.
    3. A trained ADT safety agent calls you to check in.
    4. If you do not answer, your live location goes to up to 5 emergency contacts you picked in the app, and, if you turned the feature on, to 9-1-1 through the agents (U.S. and Canada only).
    5. Agents can stay with you by phone, video or text.

Pressed it by accident? You can cancel in the app with a 4-digit PIN. The app also has a test mode, so you can practice without sending a real alert.

The big catch: it depends on your phone

This is the part the ads tend to skip. invisaWear’s own FAQ answers “Does it require my phone to work?” with: “Yes! invisaWear uses bluetooth to connect to your phone and your phone sends the emergency alert.” Its setup page lists what has to be true for an alert to go out:

    • Your phone is on and within about 30 feet of the charm
    • The invisaWear app is running in the background (not force-closed)
    • Bluetooth, Location Services and Notifications are all on
    • Your phone has cell data or Wi-Fi to send the alert

So if your phone is dead, switched off, out of range or has no signal, the charm cannot send an alert. The charm itself has no cellular connection or GPS.

    How much does invisaWear cost?

    ItemPrice on 2026-10-30Notes
Safety Charm$49Listed “was” price $99 during a sale
    Pendant Keychain$64Listed “was” price $149
Safety Plan (required for alerts)$14.99/monthListed “was” price $19.99; cancel any time, non-refundable
ShippingFree in the U.S. over $100Original shipping is non-refundable

Over the first year, a $49 charm plus 12 months of the plan comes to about $229. That is the real number to compare against other options. Prices change often with sales, so check the official page before you buy.

    Returns, warranty and fine print

    • Returns: 30 days from delivery, item unused and in original packaging, $10 restocking fee per item, and you pay return shipping. Holiday orders (September to December) can be returned through January 31.
    • Subscription: non-refundable, and it starts on the purchase date, not the day you activate the charm.
    • Warranty: 1 year on the jewelry against defects. It does not cover water damage.
    • Water: marketed as sweat and weather resistant, with no official waterproof rating. Do not shower or swim with it.
    • Battery: a coin cell with no charging. The company claims about 3 years, while its App Store listing says at least a year.
    • Disputes: the Terms of Service require binding arbitration.

    What real buyers say

Independent ratings are mixed. On Trustpilot invisaWear scores 2.7 out of 5 from 178 reviews, with 49% five-star and 32% one-star. The invisaWear iPhone app rates much higher, 4.6 out of 5 from 581 ratings. We found no Better Business Bureau profile and no real discussion on Reddit.

What buyers like: it looks like normal jewelry, it gives peace of mind when walking alone, the check-in calls are reassuring, and the app is easy to set up.

What buyers complain about: the monthly fee not being clear up front or charges after an expected free trial, trouble cancelling, the charm losing connection or failing to pair, the 30-foot range, shipping delays, and a bulky look or a chain that broke. One App Store reviewer said no alert went out during a real emergency, which they connected to a phone carrier outage.

Is invisaWear legit, or a scam?

It is legit. invisaWear Technologies is a real company, its founders Rajia Abdelaziz and Ray Hamilton built the first version as a UMass Lowell senior project, and its ADT partnership was publicly announced in December 2020. The complaints are about cost, the subscription and phone dependence, not about a product that does not exist.

Two things to ignore: we found no evidence invisaWear was ever on Shark Tank, and its App Store description still says “No Subscriptions”, which is out of date. The Safety Plan is required.

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

A good fit if: you always have your phone on you, you want a discreet way to get help without unlocking your phone, and $14.99 a month for ADT-backed monitoring feels worth it.

Skip it if: you often leave your phone behind or let it die, you do not want another monthly bill, or you want something that works with no phone at all.

    Alternatives

    • Your phone’s built-in Emergency SOS (iPhone and Android): free, already on your phone, and can call emergency services and share your location. It needs you to reach your phone.
    • A personal safety alarm keychain such as She’s Birdie ($34.95 on its official site): a loud siren, no phone and no subscription, but it does not contact anyone.
    • The Noonlight app: a free basic safety button in an app; it also runs on your phone.

    FAQ

    Does invisaWear need a subscription?

    Does invisaWear call 911 directly?
