Best overall under $100: Soundcore Space A40
RTINGS calls the Space A40 “the best earbuds under $100 we’ve tested,” with noise cancelling that “competes with that of much more expensive earbuds,” and its battery lasted “eight hours with ANC enabled.” Engadget also makes it its top budget pick: “we still haven’t found a better value among wireless earbuds,” and its ANC is “outstanding for the money.” Soundcore lists LDAC, two-device multipoint, a wireless charging case, IPX4 and 4.9 g per bud.
- Pros: ANC that RTINGS says competes with much pricier earbuds; comfortable enough to wear all day (RTINGS); multipoint; wireless charging; 18-month warranty.
- Cons: RTINGS calls the mic recording quality “poor” (“your voice on calls sounds far away”); no stability fins, so not the most secure for workouts; Engadget notes no auto-pause; Soundcore’s own FAQ says LDAC can’t run at the same time as multipoint. Engadget says it’s “typically available between $45 and $60” elsewhere; soundcore.com listed $99.99.

Best noise cancelling under $100: Soundcore Liberty 4 NC
SoundGuys names the Liberty 4 NC its best noise canceling earbuds under $100: they cut outside noise “by an average of 84% with ANC on, which is tied for the highest we’ve measured from earbuds under $100,” and lasted 9 hours 53 minutes with ANC on, beating Soundcore’s 8-hour claim. You also get LDAC, multipoint, a wireless charging case, an 8-band EQ and a fit test. Engadget calls them “just the Space A40 in a different shape,” with a stem design and wear detection.
- Pros: top-tier budget ANC and long tested battery; five manual ANC levels plus adaptive mode; IPX4.
- Cons: “big, thumpy bass” that Engadget found “hard to fully rein in” even with EQ (SoundGuys suggests the Spoken Word preset); calls “only okay” at RTINGS and “mediocre” at Engadget; RTINGS says they “aren’t stable enough for CrossFit or HIIT”; SoundGuys lists a chunky case. Soundcore says LDAC with ANC drops battery to 5 hours.

Cheapest Soundcore worth buying: Soundcore P31i
If $100 is too much, RTINGS points to the P31i ($59.99) “if you want to spend as little as possible without giving up useful features”: adaptive ANC, multi-device pairing and LDAC. The ANC is “a step down from” the Space A40, battery lasted “a little over seven hours with ANC on,” and unlike the A40, RTINGS says the mic “performs well for calls.” Soundcore lists IP55 and Bluetooth 6.1.
- Pros: rare feature set at $59.99; comfortable, lightweight fit; RTINGS rates its mic well, unlike the A40’s; IP55.
- Cons: RTINGS says the construction of the ear tips “feels somewhat cheap” and the buds “can shift out of place a bit when you’re talking or chewing”; Soundcore’s FAQ says $49.99 but the page price was $59.99.
Best sound and features under $100: EarFun Air Pro 4+
Here a rival beats Soundcore. SoundGuys picks the EarFun Air Pro 4+ as its best wireless earbuds under $100 overall: Bluetooth 6.0, LDAC and aptX Lossless, a tuning that “closely follows our house curve,” a 10-band EQ, IP55 and multipoint. Tom’s Guide says the sound is “better than pretty much everything else that costs a similar amount.”
- Pros: SoundGuys’ best overall under $100; Tom’s Guide rates its sound above almost anything at the price; flagship codecs for Android; wireless charging case.
- Cons: SoundGuys measured only 6 hours 17 minutes with ANC on, and ANC “only average” at 80%, behind the Liberty 4 NC. Engadget had a bud fail on the older, non-plus Air Pro 4.

Best under $50 and best for calls: CMF Buds Pro 2
Tom’s Guide names the CMF Buds Pro 2 its best cheap wireless earbuds, and its reviewer described “AirPods Pro 3 like ANC.” RTINGS makes them its pick for work, with a mic that has “much better recording quality than” the Space A40, and SoundGuys says they “kept voices clear on busy streets and in wind.” SoundGuys’ review measured about 81% noise reduction. Nothing’s store lists them at $49.
- Pros: RTINGS’ work pick for mic quality; strong ANC; Smart Dial on the case for volume and playback; LDAC via the app.
- Cons: short battery: 6 hours 15 minutes at SoundGuys and 6.8 hours at RTINGS; very bass-heavy default sound; SoundGuys says no true Multipoint, though Dual Connection pairs two devices; IP54.

Also $49: the CMF Buds 2 are SoundGuys’ best earbuds under $50, with 82% noise reduction and 9 hours of battery in its test.
Best under $30: JLab JBuds Mini
SoundGuys picks the JBuds Mini for small ears: 3.3 g per bud, IP55, a 10-band EQ and a case that clips to your keys. They lasted 5 hours 52 minutes in SoundGuys’ test. JLab lists them at $29.99 with multipoint and a 2-year warranty.
- Pros: very light; IP55; multipoint; 2-year warranty and 30-day returns at JLab.
- Cons: no ANC; SoundGuys found a treble peak that “can get fatiguing”; easy to lose.
Want ANC for about $32? Engadget calls the JLab Go Pop ANC ($31.99) “the cheapest set we’ve tested with active noise cancellation,” though “neither feature is all that effective.”

Best for the gym: JLab Go Sport+
RTINGS names the Go Sport+ its best earbuds for workouts under $50, saying the ear hooks give “a much more stable fit than” the Space A40. Engadget says they stay put “whether you’re jogging, lifting or doing burpees.” RTINGS measured 7.5 hours; JLab claims 9. They’re IP55 and $31.99 at JLab.
- Pros: secure hook fit; IP55; long battery; 2-year warranty.
- Cons: no ANC or multipoint; the case has a built-in cable that RTINGS calls “a potential weak point”; Engadget says the mic struggles in wind.

Best for iPhone: Beats Flex, or AirPods 5 as the ceiling
iPhones use AAC, so LDAC and aptX extras won’t help you, per SoundGuys. If you want Apple’s quick pairing, RTINGS says the Beats Flex ($69.99) are “the best Bluetooth earbuds for iPhone under $100,” with about 11 hours of battery. The catch: they’re neck-cable buds with no ANC and no sound customization.
Apple’s AirPods 4 page now redirects to the AirPods 5: $129, or $149 with a wireless charging case, with ANC and IP57. SoundGuys measured a 59% average noise reduction and says “fit decides almost everything,” since they don’t seal your ear. Engadget had 5 to 7 percent left at the five-hour mark with ANC on, and Tom’s Guide calls the battery “abysmal.”

Best budget noise cancelling headphones (over-ear)
For over-ear headphones, the Soundcore Space One ($99.99, in stock November 4) is the value pick. SoundGuys measured 42 hours 57 minutes with ANC on, scored its noise cancelling 8.0/10 and said “if you have $100 to spend, you can’t go wrong.” RTINGS is cooler: its ANC “won’t be enough for noisy commutes,” and it calls the mic “sub-par for phone calls.” Soundcore says the Space One isn’t water or sweat resistant.
- Sony WH-CH720N: SoundGuys scored its ANC 7.3/10, below the Space One’s 8.0, with 40 hours 11 minutes of battery, at a $179.99 MSRP.
- JBL Live 780NC: RTINGS‘ best noise cancelling headphones under $200, with ANC that “competes with flagship offerings,” but high clamping force. JBL’s store blocked our price check.
- Soundcore Life Q20 2024: RTINGS’ pick under $100, with “amazing noise isolation” and 49 hours of battery. We couldn’t find it sold new on soundcore.com’s US store on November 4.
Full details are in our Soundcore Space One review.
How to choose budget earbuds
What you give up under $50
Mostly battery and mics. The CMF Buds Pro 2 run about 6 hours at SoundGuys; the JBuds Mini and Go Sport+ skip ANC entirely. Wireless charging is rare, and SoundGuys puts it bluntly: “you’re choosing which compromise you can live with, not whether you’ll make one.”
ANC at budget prices
Budget ANC works best on steady, low noise like engines, less well on sudden clatter, per SoundGuys. Top measured results here: the Liberty 4 NC (84%), CMF Buds Pro 2 (about 81%) and EarFun Air Pro 4+ (80%). Soundcore’s “up to 98%” figures are its own lab claims.
Codecs: iPhone vs Android
iPhones use AAC. LDAC and aptX stream more detail, but only to compatible Android phones, per SoundGuys. On Soundcore models, LDAC costs battery (the Liberty 4 NC drops to 5 hours with ANC) and, on the Space A40, can’t run alongside multipoint.
Fit and ear tips
Engadget says “fit is king”: a poor seal means weaker bass and worse isolation. Try every tip size.
Water ratings for the gym
The second digit of the IP rating covers water: 4 handles sweat and splashes, 5 handles light rain, per SoundGuys. IPX4 (Space A40, Liberty 4 NC) suits light workouts; the IP55, hooked Go Sport+ suits sweaty ones.
Warranty
Soundcore gives 18 months, but replacements may be “a factory refurbished model of equal value,” coverage is limited to the country of purchase, and change-of-mind returns within 30 days cost you the return shipping (policy). JLab lists a 2-year limited warranty and 30-day returns.
Is Soundcore a trustworthy brand?
The products test well; the company record is weaker. The BBB rates Anker Innovations F, with 325 of 352 complaints unanswered across all Anker brands, and Trustpilot shows 3.8 from 4,221 reviews (12% one-star). Our Soundcore review covers the full lineup, and our Soundcore Boom 2 review covers its speaker.
